Vergara, pinaalahanan ang mga Tomasino na sumailalim sa ‘spiritual renewal’

Sa pagbubukas ng panuruang taon 2022–2023, pinaalahanan ni Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines bise presidente Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara ang mga Tomasino na buuin ang kanilang “spiritual renewal” upang labanan ang ng mga suliranin na dulot ng COVID-19.

“In this light, our renewed spiritual formation of the human person […] should be an urgent focus due to the negative psychological effects of the pandemic to mental health of many of us,” aniya sa taunang Misa de Apertura na ginanap kaninang umaga.

Ayon kay Vergara, ang Espiritu Santo ay may kapangyarihang “aluhin” ang mga kinatatakutan at kinababahala ng Unibersidad kaakibat ng gradwal na pagbabalik ng limited face-to-face na klase ngayong taon.

“[…] by the power of the Holy Spirit we are healed of our fears and anxieties and can courageously unlock the closed doors of our homes, classrooms, libraries, meeting halls, recreational rooms, and conventional centers so that we can have places of face to face encounter, dialogue, and learning,” aniya.

Hinikayat din ng Obispo ang mga Tomasino na maging instrumento ng banal na Espiritu sa pag-usbong ng pagbabago sa bawat isa.

“As we open classes in UST this year, may we be instruments of the Holy Spirit to renew each other in both a personal and communal way,” sabi ni Vergara.

Dagdag ni Vergara, ang pagbubukas ng panuruang taon ay maihahalintulad sa “Pentecost.”

“Today, like Jesus’ disciples who waited inside the upper room and experienced the coming of the Holy Spirit like tongues of fire, our opening of classes is a Pentecost for us; a promise fulfilled for all stakeholders of this university,” aniya.

Ang Misa de Apertura ay taunang tradisyon ng Unibersidad na ginaganap sa Santisimo Rosario Parish bilang tanda ng pagsisimula ng akademikong taon.
