The University maintained its ranking as the Philippines’ second best higher educational institution to produce “employable” graduates, according to the 2022 Quacquarelli-Symonds (QS) Graduate Employability Rankings.

For the past two editions of the London-based report, UST remained in the 251–300 bracket in terms of having “the most employable graduates.”

Among the four universities in the Philippines included in the list, Ateneo de Manila University was the only one in the 151–160 bracket. Both De La Salle University and the University of the Philippines placed in the 301–500 bracket.

“As the world recovers from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of graduating with the skills and qualities required by modern employers has arguably never been greater,” the QS report read, emphasizing the need to maintain quality education as classes shifted online due to the pandemic.

According to the QS website, the educational institutions included in the rankings “demonstrated an ability to produce graduates with the ‘soft skills’ required for the modern workplace.”

“Given the fierce competition for graduate roles around the world, students should be seriously considering how their university can prepare them adequately for full-time employment, by connecting them with global employers and ensuring they develop the necessary skills and knowledge,” it further read.

The criteria for selection included employer reputation, alumni outcomes, partnerships with employers per faculty, graduate employment rate, and employer-student connections.

Overall, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology continued to lead the world’s top universities in the rankings. It is followed by Stanford University and the University of California, Los Angeles at second and third, respectively.

In Asia, China’s Tsinghua University topped the list at sixth place overall, followed by the University of Hong Kong and the National University of Singapore at 10th and 17th, respectively.
