In addition, former Tigers guard Joshua Fontanilla proved to be a thorn on the side of UST as he steered the Manansala-led group with 17 points and seven assists.

Four Tigers who contributed double-digit points were not enough to will the Tigers their first win. Veteran sniper Sherwin Concepcion, who knocked crucial threes in the clutch, grabbed 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Bryan Santos posted 17 points and shot 77 percent from the field. Rookie Kean Baclaan contributed14 points and five assists, and Miguel Pangilinan with 11 points and nine rebounds.

But as the half came to an end, the Tigers lost grip on their early momentum as their lead was cut down to 40–34. UST outscored St. Clare by a point during the second outing, 18–17.

During the final frame, the Tigers were down 65–76 with 5:19 left in the game courtesy of a 10–0 blitz by St. Clare. Manalang’s driving layup put the Builders-Warehouse squad within one, 75–76 at the 3:45 mark, as UST responded with a 10–0 run of their own.

The two teams went back and forth until St. Clare managed to lead by five with a minute and a half left in the game. Concepcion knocked down two crucial threes and Baclaan made clutch free throws, but fell short as the thriller ended with a heartbreaking loss for the Tigers, 86–87.
