UST posts lower passing rate in September 2017 mechanical engineering boards

After being named the third top-performing school last year, the University posted a lower passing rate in the September 2017 licensure examination for mechanical engineers.
UST was named the seventh top-performing school after garnering a passing rate of 88.24 percent, wherein 105 out of 119 Thomasians passed the examination. This is lower than last year’s 92 percent, in which 115 out of 125 made the cut.
However, no Thomasian made it in the top ten highest scorers.
Jay Nelson Corbita of Xavier University led the new batch of mechanical engineers with a score of 92.20 percent. Meanwhile, University of the Philippines — Diliman remained as the top performing school with a passing rate of 96.15 percent.
According to Professional Regulation Commission, 3,517 out of 5,098 examinees nationwide passed the board exam.
