UST improves in chemistry board examinations
The University posted a higher passing rate in the October 2017 licensure examination for chemists, with one Thomasian landing on the top ten highest scorers.
UST registered this year a 75.51-percent passing rate, wherein 37 out of 49 Thomasians made the cut. This was higher than last year’s 73.17- percent in which 30 out of 41 examinees passed.
Thomasian Mark John Pidoy Mandigma led the new batch of Thomasian chemists, after placing fifth with a score of 88-percent.
University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman was named the top performing school in the licensure examination for chemists after posting an 87.93-percent passing rate.
Moreover, UST garnered a perfect passing rate in the chemical technician licensure examination, wherein all the 21 Thomasian examinees passed the exam.
However, no Thomasian made it in the top ten highest scorers in the chemical technician board exam.
Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology was named the best performing school for chemical technicians after posting passing rate of 89.29-percent.
According to the Professional Regulation Commission, 526 out of 1,195 examinees nationwide passed the board exam for chemists, and 720 out of 845 passed the chemical technician licensure examination. — Angelika Ortega
