The UST Golden Tigresses failed to capture the bronze medal, settling for the fourth place after conceding to a five-set battle against the Adamson Lady Falcons, 27–25, 20–25, 25–16, 22–25, 11–15, in their Shakey’s Volleyball Super League battle for bronze matchup held at a jam-packed Rizal Memorial Coliseum, Saturday afternoon.

After executing a three-point swing to tie the match in the final set, 11–11, a crucial crossing violation was called against UST which broke their momentum and allowed Adamson to pull away from the set.

This is a bounce-back victory for the Lady Falcons after losing to the Tigresses also in five sets during the preliminary period of the League.

The combined 48-point explosion of UST’s Golden Trinity with Jurado having 19, Abellana with 18, and Gula’s 11 were not enough to lift the Tigresses past the Lady Falcons.

It was almost an identical story on the statistics for both teams but Adamson’s 10 block points proved crucial in snatching away the game.

Trisha Tubu of Adamson was instrumental in her team’s win as she was named MVP of the match.

Kung Fu Reyes, the notable head coach of the Golden Tigresses, was not present on the sidelines as assistant coach Yani Fernandez took over.

The rookie-laden UST ended their SSL campaign with an overall standing of six wins and three losses.
