The UST Golden Tigresses notched their first win through a clean sweep over the San Beda Red Lions, 25–12, 25–19, 25–17, in the 2022 V-League Collegiate Challenge held at the Paco Arena, Friday afternoon.

In the opening frame, UST took care of business right away as Ysa Jimenez finished the lopsided set with an attack, 25–12.

The Tigresses had 12 attack points which tied the total points of San Beda in the first set. Out of those 12 points, seven errors came from the Tigresses.

Come the second set, the Red Lions managed to tie things up at 7-all. UST emerged to rally a run to take the lead, 11–7. Despite San Beda’s efforts to catch up, the Tigresses pulled away to take the 2–0 lead as the second salvo ended, 25–19. UST had four blocks in this set while allowing SBU to none.

The Tigresses, hungry for a win, nabbed an early 6–1 lead to start the third set. San Beda called a timeout to stop UST’s momentum. Both squads exchanged errors for a bit but UST closed the game with a comfortable lead, 25–17.

Placed on third in Pool B, UST is set to face either the Ateneo Blue Eagles or Adamson Lady Falcons, depending on the outcome of their game later today.

Whoever loses between the match of Ateneo and Adamson will battle the Tigresses on Nov. 9, Wednesday, at the same venue. This will be the start of the Quarterfinals round of the V-League.
