UAAP Season 85 to begin on Oct. 1

The 85th Season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) will commence on Oct. 1 with the theme “Rise As One,”host Adamson University said on Tuesday.
“After the last UAAP Season made us Fully Alive and created Champions for Life, UAAP Season 85 is hoping to call the entire community to Rise As One,” UAAP Season 85 president Fr. Aldrin Suan said in a statement.
“It’s been two years since the COVID-19 pandemic happened and has yet to end. Together, we are looking to rise as a nation, helping build a better future for a brighter tomorrow,” Suan added.
The collegiate league will hold its second season for the calendar year after the shortened 84th Season was conducted in the first half of 2022.
The events calendar for Season 85 will also be announced later this month, the host school said.
“Our student-athletes have been waiting for their moment, some yet to return to the playing field since 2019,” Suan added.
He also said that the UAAP will bring back “traditions” that were halted last season due to restrictions and also introduce “new innovations” that the host school hopes to be sustained next seasons.
“As we get back to normalcy, we will be going back to the ‘original’ days of the UAAP pre-pandemic which is holding our televised games on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays,” he said.
“This season, we are also not just looking to have accomplished a ‘good hosting year’ for Adamson University but begin traditions that will be passed on from host to host for seasons to come,” Suan added.
Satellite provider Cignal TV, which is also a conglomerate of MediaQuest Holdings, will be the league’s official broadcast partner for the upcoming season.
