Type B uniforms, off-campus activities return after years of hiatus

In accordance with the Council of Regents’ resolution from June 2014, the Office of the Secretary-General (OSG) announced the use of respective Type B uniforms in a circular dated last Saturday, Feb. 18.
The directive on immediate wearing of Type B uniforms following Ash Wednesday will take effect starting this Thursday, Feb. 23, until the end of the second term for academic year 2022–2023.
Respective heads of each academic unit have the prerogative to require the donning of Type A uniforms during shift, preliminary, or final exams, or on other occasions, according to the OSG.
Meanwhile, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), released an amended version of a memorandum on local off-campus activities last Feb. 16, Thursday.
Stated in the CHED memorandum order no. 1 s. 2023 that local off-campus activities are now allowed but are still subject to compliance of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
The local off-campus activities include but are not limited to educational tours, degree program-relevant events, field study, mission-based activities, seminars or conferences, community outreach programs, performances, and competitions.
Moreover, activities such as internship, practicum, and on-the-job training that are taken outside the HEIs’ premises and not covered under CMO №63 s. 2017 are also allowed and subject to compliance of the colleges.
The commission clarified that there are separate and existing guidelines for the specific programs set to partake in the aforementioned activities.
The participation of unvaccinated students is under the discretion of the HEIs and their affiliated institutions.
