Off a heartbreaking season-opener, the UST Golden Tigresses made quick work of the FEU Lady Tamaraws, 25–16, 28–26, 25–21, to tally their first win in the UAAP Season 85 Women’s volleyball tournament inside the Mall of Asia Arena, Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Tigresses leaned on Eya Laure’s brilliance with 17 points, while young guns Jonna Perdido and Renee Peñafiel showed the depth of their bench contributing 12 and 10 respectively to put on a masterclass at the expense of the Lady Tams.

UST was mostly in control, except when FEU found their strides in the second set, where the Lady Tamaraws zoomed to a lead as wide as six before the Golden Tigresses doubled down on their attacks to snag the second set in an extended, 28–26.

It was all the Tigresses from there, exacting dominance in the third set, funneling their offense through Laure once more to seal the victory, 25–21.

UST out spiked FEU, 50–35 with Laure and Perdido combining for half of those, dominating that department from start to finish.

Alyzza Devosora put up the fight for the Lady Tamaraws as she poured a team-high 14 points while Jovelyn Fernandez added 13 in the losing effort.

UST (1–1) will look to continue its winning ways on Saturday, 2:00 p.m., against the defending champions National University Lady Bulldogs (2–0) in the same venue.
