The University of Santo Tomas Tigresses ran out the of gas against the University of the East Lady Warriors, 62–66, in the UAAP Season 80 women’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan Sunday.

The second half saw a physical battle between the two as unsportsmanlike fouls were called. Bets Peñaflor was tossed after committing her second unsportsmanlike foul.

UST slowly chipped away the lead in the 4th quarter but the big lead of UE proved to be the difference as they took the game, 66–62.

“Bottomline, UE was the better team than us today, so we have to make sure lang na kung ano yung pinaghirapan namin in the first round will not be put into waste,” UST head coach Haydee Ong said.

“We’re out rebounded eh, so we need to work hard on our boxing out dun sa ilalim so yung mga bigs ko kailangan magtrabaho,” she added.
