After a dominant opening set, the UST Golden Tigresses (5–3) succumbed once again to the Adamson Lady Falcons (6–2), 25–11, 21–25, 13–25, 22–25, to start the second round of the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament at the Philsports Arena on March 25, Saturday afternoon.

UST coughed up 32 errors in the matchup, almost doubling the Lady Falcons’ 18, which proved to be the difference-maker in the Golden Tigresses’ downfall after a promising start.

Eya Laure led the charge for the Tigresses with 17 points off 11 attacks and five aces, while Imee Hernandez backed her up with 14 markers on 10 attacks.

Milena Alessandrini, meanwhile, finished with nine points but sat out in the entirety of the fourth set due to a mild ankle sprain in the third set

Trisha Tubu was the lone Lady Falcon who tallied double-digits in the game as she dropped 21 points off 15 attacks and six blocks to prove Adamson’s mastery of the Tigresses in Season 85.

All opened well and bright for the Lady Tigresses, blowing past the Lady Falcons in the first set with minimal errors and a bunch of fiery attacks that amplified the UST faithful in attendance.

However, Adamson had the game on the horns from thereon, banking onUST’s own errors before pouncing on the rather unusual flimsy net defense of the Tigresses in the match.

The Lady Falcons outblocked the Tigresses 11–8, despite UST’s edge on the attack department 44–38.

The third set captured the gist of the matchup as the miscue-riddled Tigresses had 13 errors in the frame on its way to a 13–25 beating from the Lady Falcons, who only had 5 errors in the set.

Despite leading by three in the second technical timeout of the fourth set, UST squandered the cushion courtesy of a 12–6 finish of the Falcons, mainly off the Tigresses errors and Lady Falcons’ timely attacks.

UST will look to bounce back from this loss on Wednesday against the winless UE Lady Warriors at the Mall of Asia Arena.
