Tiger Spikers notch fourth win with sweep of Fighting Maroons

The UST Tiger Spikers (4–1) continued the woes of the UP Fighting Maroons (0–5) with a dominant sweep,, 25–22, 25–18, 25–17, to notch their fourth win inf the UAAP Season 85 men’s volleyball tournament, Saturday, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
The Tiger Spikers stepped on the gas on crucial stretches to turn back UP’s early runs in the game, pulling away in dominant fashion.
UST found themselves down 1–4 in the first set, and 4–7 in the second set, but the Tiger Spikers leaned on its attacks and net defense to extract the straight-set win out of the Maroons.
The game saw the Tiger Spikers dominate the attack department, 40–27, and outblock the Fighting Maroons, 13–6.
Josh Ybanez and Gboy De Vega carried the offensefor the Tiger Spikers with 13 points each, while Paul Colinares stepped up with nine off four blocks.
Meanwhile, Louis Gamban and Angelo Lagando anchored the Fighting Maroons with 11 and 10 markers, respectively, as UP remained winless after five games.
The Tiger Spikers will return to action against the Ateneo Blue Eagles (1–3) on Wednesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
