Tiger Spikers clobber Green Spikers

The University of Santo Tomas Tiger Spikers defeated the De La Salle University Green Spikers, 25–17, 25–13, 25–22, in the 2017 PVL Collegiate Conference at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City Monday.

With UST already at matchpoint in the third set, 24–19 DLSU’s Cris Dumago went for three straight kills, 24–22. Joshua Umandal would then end the game with a go-ahead kill, 25–22.

“Lapses on focus lang yung [nangyari] so we have to work on that,” UST head coach Odjie Mamon said on his team almost collapsing in the matchpoint.

“Ang key ngayon is maganda yung blocking namin tsaka medyo kumarga yung serve,” he added.

Joshua Umandal led UST with 14 points while Dumago led DLSU with 14 markers in a losing effort.

Despite their second straight victory, Mamon believes that UST still has a long way to go in this conference. “Hopefully, maexecute lang yung naplano namin masaya na ako.”

The UST Tigers are bound to square off against Ateneo De Manila University on Satuday, Sept. 9, at the same venue.
