After a lackluster performance against the NU Bullpups last Wednesday, the UST Tiger Cubs (2–1) vented their ire on the UPIS Junior Fighting Maroons (1–2) with a 90–64 beating, Sunday morning, at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

A dominant first half saw the Tiger Cubs outscoring the Maroons, 48–22. This propelled UST to a comfortable hold on the lead that even ballooned to as big as 31 in the second half en route to their second win in three games.

Mark Llemit took charge for UST with 20 points, 15 rebounds, and six steals in 25 minutes of action, while James Jumao-as backed him with 17 markers, four rebounds, and four assists on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, off the bench.

Meanwhile, JP Pangilinan had 13 points and six rebounds for the Tiger Cubs as Charles Bucsit and Carl Manding chipped in eight, and seven points, respectively.

The Tiger Cubs imposed their might inside throughout, dropping 60 points in the paint, doubling up Junior Maroons’ 30-point production. UST also outrebounded UPIS, 61–42, from which the former grabbed 19 on the offensive end, nine more than the latter.

UPIS’ Kobe Demisana led the way for the Diliman-based crew with monstrous numbers of 21 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and four blocks, but it all went to naught as UST’s 15 man lineup overwhelmed the Maroons, who only paraded seven players in the game.

Daryl Vadeavilla also contributed 18 points, six rebounds and five assists for UPIS, while Jonas Napalang added eight markers, four boards, and three assists as the Maroons to a 1–2 slate.

UST will look to spark a winning streak against the Lebron Nieto-led Ateneo Blue Eagles on Wednesday, (insert time here), at the same venue.
