A Thomasian successfully landed in the top 10 of the April 2023 electronics engineering (ECE) licensure exam, the Professional Regulation Commission announced on April 26, Wednesday evening.
UST alumnus Brian Aguilar led the new batch of Thomasian electronics engineers after scoring 87.20 percent.
Compared to the October 2022 boards where there were 110 examinees from the University, this month’s boards only saw 58 Thomasian takers where 21 of them passed — recording a 36.21 percent passing rate for UST.
With the small number of examinees and passers, UST failed to be listed among the top-performing schools.
University of the Philippines Diliman continued its top-performing streak as it was announced as the the lone best school in the ECE boards.
Meanwhile, the University notched an 86.67 percent passing rate in the electronics technician (ECT) licensure examination.
Like in the ECE boards, UST also produced a smaller number of takers in ECT.
Only 30 Thomasians took the technicians boards this month, and 26 of them passed.
Technological University of the Philippines Visayas was hailed as the best electronics technician school after posting a 92.21 percent passing rate or 71 passers out of its 77 examinees.
The two electronics exams was conducted from April 19 to 21 at testing centers located at Metro Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Zamboanga, and Palawan.
