Thomasian athletes bag medals in SEA Games

Several Thomasians came home with medals as part of the Philippine contingent in the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia last August 19 to 30.

The Growling Tigers contributed a gold and four bronze medals to 24–33–64 overall medal tally of the Philippines, good for sixth place.

Rodolfo Reyes Jr. bagged the gold medal in men’s team poomsae event. Reyes also finished third in the singles poomsae.

“All the sacrifices, lahat ng pagod sa training, lahat ng yun worth it,” Reyes told TomasinoWeb.

“Nung nanalo kami, I’m so happy because another victory again for the Philippines,” he added.

Eloiza Luzon placed third in women’s 4x100m relay in Athletics while Jo Ninobla won a bronze medal in women’s team poomsae event, repeating their 2015 feat.

Sydney Sy fought her way to a bronze medal in judo.

Thomasian athletes hope to carry their SEA Games experience to help UST defend its overall title in UAAP Season 80.

“In the upcoming UAAP, I believe that we can get the championship title again,” Reyes ended.
