The purity of chastity will be rewarded, but humility will be demanded, UST College of Science regent Rev. Fr. Franklin Beltran O.P said during the celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday, Dec. 8.

Beltran emphasized during his homily at the Santisimo del Rosario Parish the value of humility in all the things we do, just as Mary did every time she honors the greatness of the Lord whenever she had the opportunity to do so.

“Mary became the mother of good not just because of her purity. She became the mother of God because of her humility,” Beltran said.

The regent brought up the distinction between Mary and beauty queens when admired by many. In which the first diverts the attention to the Lord while the latter gets delighted with the attention given to them.

“We seek to be like Mary, not through the Immaculate Conception, but through the repentance of our sins.” Beltran said.

He highlighted how Mary showed us the greatness of the Grace of God through obeying his words and remaining pure and preserved from all sins including the original sin.

“Because of that one word — the Salvation of the whole world started,” Beltran said.

He also reminded the people that God’s creation should be admired in the same way that people admire successful people or attractive objects.

“Let us stop and admire the wonder of God’s creation,” Beltran added.

Every year on Dec. 8, the faithful honor Mary by celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The Catholic holiday known as the Sacrament of the Immaculate Conception venerates Mary’s conception without sin.
