Pagpapatibay ng Katolikong edukasyon, hinikayat
Hinikayat ng tagapangulo ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines’ Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education ang pagpapatibay sa Katolikong edukasyon para sa paglinang ng kaisipan at pagpapatibay ng pananampalataya.
“We may also reiterate that Catholic schools and universities… must offer an approach to education that aims for full human development while respecting freedom of expression. These institutions must present Jesus Christ as the meaning of life,” ayon kay Most Rev. Roberto Mallari, sa kaniyang sermon sa taunang Misa de Apertura nitong Martes, ika-1 ng Agosto.
Dagdag niya, dapat ituro sa mga Katolikong insitusyon ang kahalagan ng kabutihan at pagpapakumbaba.
“Let our Catholic educational institutions be the place to educate the minds with knowledge, the hands with skills, but also the heart for sympathy and humility,” ani niya.
Ngunit, binilinan ni Mallari ang mga mag-aaral na gamitin sa ikabubuti ng iba ang kani-kaniyang mga talento at kaalaman.
“If knowledge and education make us violent, make us proud, or indifferent with one another, then knowledge is not a fruit of the Holy Spirit. If our skills and educational attainment make us indifferent… then it is not of God.”
“If our educational institutions build high walls between rich and poor, learned and unlearned, fortunate and unfortunate, instead of building bridges, then we lose fight and forget who we are and what we are,” dagdag niya.
Pinaalala rin niya dapat punan muna natin ang ating mga sarili ng Espiritu Santo bago natin punan ang ating mga kaisipan ng mga kaalaman.
“In order for us to become effective agents of communion and renewal in the Church and society, as we commit ourselves to the new evangelization, we have to be filled with the Holy Spirit, with its gifts and fruits,” ani Mallari.
Ang Misa de Apertura o ang Misa ng Espiritu Santo, ay isang tradisyong idinaraos taun-taon bilang hudyat ng opisyal na pagsisimula ng panibagong taong panuruan.
