Filipino-Italian outside hitter Milena Alessandrini is set to return to UST Golden Tigresses for UAAP Season 85, Institute of Physical Education and Athletics director Fr. Rodel Cansancio confirmed with TomasinoWeb on Sept. 15, Thursday afternoon.

Six-foot-one Alessandrini provides an immediate boost to the Tigresses’ offensive arsenal which saw an early final four exit in Season 84.

The former rookie of the year in Season 80 saw her sophomore year derailed in just four games where she suffered a partial tear on her anterior cruciate ligament and two Grade 3 sprains on her lateral collateral ligament and medial collateral ligament in their match against the FEU Lady Tamaraws.

After completing rehabilitation in Italy, Milena will now reunite with team captain Eya Laure and join key holdovers Imee Hernandez, Ypril Tapia, and KC Galdones in their preparations for the upcoming season.

Alessandrini, who averaged 15.6 points during her shortened sophomore season, is now back in full health and is set to rejoin the Tigresses in their friendly match against the Ateneo Blue Eagles in Bacolod this October.

The UAAP Season 85 is set to kick off on October 1, with no announcement as of writing on when its volleyball tournament is going to be held.
