Growling Tigresses outlast Adamson

The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigresses prevailed over the Adamson University Lady Falcons, 75–66, in the UAAP Season 80 women’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Saturday.

Jhenn Angeles sank a go-ahead jumper in the fourth canto to seal the deal , 75–66.

“Noong last play, I told her na this is your time. Again, hindi naman niya ako binigo,” UST head coach Haydee Ong told TomasinoWeb.

UST talllied 28 points inside the paint against Adamson’s 13 but Ong was not pleased.

“Yung mga perimeters ko wala akong masasabi, [pero] yung poste namin they have to work hard,” Ong said.

Combo guard Angeles tallied game-high 22 points, while Sai Larosa registered a double-double performance with 16 markers and 17 boards.

It was a retaliation victory for the Tigresses since the Lady Falcons eliminated Lady Tigresses last season.

UST’s undefeated record will be tested against the defending champion National University, on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the same venue.
