Growling Tigers falter against Adamson

The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers suffered its second straight loss against the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 88–81, in the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum Saturday.

In the fourth quarter, the Growling Tigers cut Adamson’s lead down to five, 80–85, but Jerie Pingoy sank his free throws to seal the match, 88–81.

“ We were not able to do what we have planned,” UST head coach Boy Sablan said.

“Baka nanalo pa kami kung sakaling nalimit namin [yung turnovers],” he added.

The Growling Tigers committed 41 turnovers while Adamson had 22.

UST sparked a 15–7 run in the third canto to cut Adamson’s lead into 3, 57–60, but Adamson countered with a 10–0 blitz, 70–58.

Robb Manalang had 19 points while Kurt Loreja added 15 markers.

Jeepy Faundo scored game-high 21 points and 12 boards in a losing effort.

UST drops to 0–2 win-loss record while Adamson improved to 1–1.

The Growling Tigers will try to get their first win against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
