UST law freshman Horacio Castillo III was believed to be a victim of fraternity hazing rites. His body was found covered in bruises in a sidewalk in Balut, Tondo. According to his parents, he asked for permission to attend the “welcoming” of the new members of the Aegis Juris, but did not come home the following day. One of the three suspects in the death of hazing victim Horacio Castillo III has departed the country, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Thursday.

BI spokesperson Ma. Antonette Mangrobang told reporters in a text message that Ralph Trangia, one of the 16 members of Aegis Juris Fraternity that is being investigated, has fled to Taipei last Sept. 19.

BI records show that Trangia took the Eva Air Flight BR26 and left the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at 1:53 a.m. last Tuesday.

Trangia left a day before he and his father, Antonio Tragia, was named by the Manila Police District as suspects in the crime.

According to police reports, Antonio was the registered owner of the red Strad pick-up which brought Castillo’s body to the Chinese General Hospital last Sunday, Sept. 18.

Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has placed the 15 other members of the fraternity in an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order on Wednesday. They are:

  • Arvin R. Balag
  • Mhin Wei Chan
  • Marc Anthony Ventura
  • Axel Mundo Hipe
  • Oliver John Audrey Onofre
  • Joshua Joriel Macabali
  • Jason Adolfo Robiños
  • Ranie Rafael Santiago
  • Danielle Hans Mattew Rodrigo
  • Carl Mattew Villanueva
  • Aeron Salientes
  • Marcelino Bagtang
  • Zimon Padro
  • Jose Miguel Salamat
  • John Paul Solano

Castillo, a freshman student at the Faculty of Civil Law, attended the welcoming ceremony of the fraternity on Saturday. However, he did not return home the following day.

Authorities said that he died of massive heart attack possibly due to the injuries he suffered.

Castillo’s remains lie at the Sanctuario De San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati City.
