The UST Junior Tiger Spikers (2–1) fell to their first loss in the UAAP Season 85 high school boys volleyball tournament after a four-set loss to the FEU-Diliman Baby Tamaraws (2–1), 16–25, 30–28, 19–25, 23–25, Saturday afternoon, at Paco Arena in Manila.

In the fourth set, the Junior Tiger Spikers gave up 12 errors to the Baby Tamaraws that led to the University’s first loss of the season.

UST once held a three-point advantage in the final set of the match, but a late 7–1 blast by FEU clawed the Junior Tiger Spikers’ hopes of sending the game to a fifth set.

The España-based junior squad got off to a slow start after a first set loss where FEU led by as much as 10, 16–25.

However, the Junior Tiger Spikers iced up in a thrilling second set behind the late heroics of Kenneth Salvador and Ron Poja to knot the match, 30–28.

FEU-D responded in the third set where it grabbed their much-needed momentum to halt the two-game winning streak of the University with a 19–25 showing.

The Junior Tiger Spikers will look to notch their third win of the season when it clashes against De La Salle Zobel on Tuesday, 12:30 p.m., at the same venue.
