UST Growling Tigers head coach Bal David will no longer lead the University’s men’s basketball team after resigning from his post, sources confirmed with TomasinoWeb on Thursday afternoon.

David submitted his resignation to the University’s Institute of Physical Education and Athletics and has informed multiple Growling Tigers’ lead personnel and players of his decision.

The 50-year-old tactician steered the Tigers to a poor 1–13 record, a replication of their 2017 UAAP campaign under former head coach Boy Sablan.

UST’s lone win in their UAAP Season 85 men’s basketball campaign came from an opening-day stunner of the Adamson Soaring Falcons behind Nic Cabañero’s 33-point outburst.

In the latter games, Bal David and the Growling Tigers suffered 13 straight losses to end the recent iteration of the UAAP men’s basketball tournament. These included heartwrenching collapses against Adamson and La Salle in the second round of the season.

Grabe struggles and adjustments… Struggle after struggle. Kailangan same direction kami. Walang mag-qui-quit, bibitaw, and all,” David said after UST’s last game in Season 85.

Heading into Season 86, UST will be with its third head coach in three UAAP seasons following the relegation of Season 84 interim head coach Jinino Manansala to the high school ranks and with the recent exit of David.

As of writing, TomasinoWeb is in contact with its sources to come up with a possible shortlist of head coaches that can replace David with nine months left before the next season.
