Adamson sends Tigresses crashing in straight-set fashion
The UST Golden Tigresses failed to extend their winning ways with a straight set defeat against the Adamson Lady Falcons, 25–15, 25–17, 25–19, Wednesday afternoon, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Coming from their historic win against National U, UST now fell to a 2–2 win-loss record on the season.
The third set came into a 17–14 head start for the Tigresses, but Adamson retaliated with six straight points to seal the win with rookie Tricia Tubu scoring the last point, 25–19.
The first set started out in a back-and-forth affair with Adamson running the show courtesy of a 7–1 run, 10–18, that led them to nab the opening set, 15–25.
At the start of the second set, UST took an early one-point lead but were unable to retain their firepower with crucial miscues and inconsistent net defense that led Adamson to take a two-set lead, 17–25.
Team captain Eya Lauretried to breathe life for the Tigresses as they led 17–14 in the third and final set. However, the Lady Falcons did not let them regain any composure with a sudden 11–2 run to end the match in a straight set fashion, 25–19.
Kate Santiago led the way for Adamson as she scored 13 markers, while Eya Laure logged her first single-digit outing with nine markers and Reñee Penafiel nabbed seven points for UST.
Milena Alessandrini initially suited up as a libero, but did not see action after suffering a right ankle sprain in the fourth set of their previous battle against the Lady Bulldogs.
